Incidence in 2024

The American Cancer Society estimates that in 2024, there will be about 152,810 new cases of anal and colorectal cancer in the United States. This figure includes 106,590 cases of colo-rectal cancer and 46,220 cases of anal cancer.

Alarming increase of anal and colorectal cancers in those under 50 years old

There has been an alarming increase in the incidence rate among younger individuals, particularly those under 50. This trend has been observed since the mid-1990s, with colorectal cancer now being the leading cause of cancer death in men under 50 and the second leading cause in women under 50.

Death Rates

Anal and colorectal cancers remain a significant cause of cancer-related deaths, expected to account for about 53,010 deaths in 2024, making it one of the leading causes of cancer death in the U.S.
